The Young Novelists
Saturday, March 5 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Free
Husband and wife folk duo, The Young Novelists, create contemporary folk songs that marry their effortless harmonies with darkly poetic lyrics and exquisitely crafted melodies. With “In City & Country”, the couple travelled to 10 small towns in Ontario, conducting interviews and researching history in order to write songs inspired by the stories of these places. In true folk tradition, they perform these songs — songs about love triangles, strange epitaphs, small-town heists, and abandoned amusement parks — along with projected photos and documents they collected in their travels. The result brings to life the often overlooked history of these communities. Having toured across Canada, the US, and in Europe, their music has landed them a Canadian Folk Music Award for New/ Emerging Artist, a nomination for Vocal Group of the Year, and multiple song writing awards.
